The Extension Center for Youth Development’s team of more than 150 youth development professionals is dedicated to making a measurable difference in the quality, availability, and impact of out-of-school time non-formal learning opportunities for Minnesota youth, ages 6 to 18.
We deliver youth programs, prepare youth workers, conduct research, and shape the way organizations, communities, and systems think about youth development.
Our work serves as a statewide catalyst, resource, and advocate to ensure quality community opportunities for young people to learn, lead, and contribute.
- Minnesota 4-H develops and delivers non-formal educational learning opportunities reaching over 130,000 youth annually.
- The Youth Work Institute helps build stronger professionals and stronger programs through education, community-based and on-line training, technical assistance, and networking activities.
- The Applied Research and Evaluation unit works with practitioners and policy makers to identify and conduct applied research and evaluation studies that can make a difference.
- 40 Regional Extension Educators in 18 regional offices around the state of Minnesota
- Front line youth workers in 86 counties.
